China Mobile Electronic Commerce Company (CMPak ECCL – PayMax)

CMPAK Electronic Commerce Company Limited (CMPAK ECCL), a 100% owned subsidiary of CMPAK (which also owns and operates ZONG4G), has received the Commercial License in March 2022 from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to operate as an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) in Pakistan. With the grant of this license CMPAK ECCL will launch commercial services under the brand name “PayMax”, which aims at furthering CMPAK’s ambition of digital and financial inclusion.

PayMax will be launched with an ambition of transforming the digital financial space and is poised to carve its niche in the Pakistani mobile payments market by offering its users great value though addressing existing gaps in Pakistan’s mobile payments space. PayMax will introduce Digital Wallet Accounts where customers will be able to pay their utility bills, mobile top-ups, transfer money, deposit and withdraw cash and purchase e-tickets etc. from their mobile phones.

PayMax aims to become one of the major players in the Digital Financial Services Industry by utilizing China Mobile Pakistan’s 43 Million subscriber base and agent network of more than 43,000 retailers with footprint all across Pakistan. Out of this agent network, more than 20,000 agents have been enabled on biometric verification system (BVS) to perform cash deposits, cash withdrawals and UBP for walk-in-customers in line with the State Bank of Pakistan’s EMI regulations.

CHINA MOBILE PAKISTAN (CMPAK - ZONG)

China Mobile Pakistan (CMPak) is a 100% owned subsidiary of China Mobile Communications Corporation. The pioneering overseas set up of China Mobile came through acquisition of a license from Millicom to operate a GSM network in Pakistan. Taken over in 2007 with a market share of only 2%, Zong has seen exponential growth in the last few years to increase it by 10 folds to about 21.64%. Currently, CMPak engages in the provision of cellular mobile voice and data services to the Pakistani market through 2G, 3G and 4G technologies.

CMPak envisions to enable a fully connected environment for Pakistanis by leveraging the technological edge in 4G LTE, whilst providing the most reliable and affordable products in the market. On the technological front, CMPak draws heavily from the research and experience of China Mobile Communications Corporation, which is the largest telecom service provider in the world, thus enabling cutting edge, state-of-the art services to subscribers.
